What you are buying

A custom golf ball stamp, made to the design you create on this site. Each one is made by hand to order.

The preview on the site shows the design we cut your stamp from. Because it is a picture on a screen and the stamp is a physical object made by hand, small differences in finish, in how thin strokes come out, and in the tolerances of cutting are normal. Differences of that kind are not a fault as long as the stamp still prints the mark you designed and still matches that design in substance. Anything beyond that is a lack of conformity, with the remedies set out below, and nothing here takes those away.

Why no two look the same, and what will vary

Every Dimple is built from two things that are never twice alike: a real golf ball that came out of the water or the rough, and a housing printed layer by layer. This section says plainly what that means, because it is the part a photograph cannot promise you.

The ball is one that was taken out of play as unplayable. That is the whole point of the product, and it is also exactly what you should expect to receive. Cuts, scuffs, scrapes, pen and marker, a maker's logo and model printing, stains, grass and soil marks, yellowing and other discolouration are all normal. So are the brand, the colour and the dimple pattern, which differ from ball to ball. You cannot choose any of this, you cannot request a particular brand or colour, and we cannot match a ball to a photograph. Each one is whatever the next ball in the crate happens to be.

Here is the one promise we make about it: you will receive a whole ball, with no chips or missing material, cleaned and sound enough to work as a handle. A ball that arrived chipped may have been repaired with a 3D printed patch and UV-cured resin, so a visible repair is not a chip or missing material. Everything else about its appearance is the character of a used ball rather than a fault in it.

A finished stamp: an orange ball with a gouge in its cover and handwriting in marker. A finished stamp: an off-white, slightly yellowed ball with a small stain and the maker's model printing. A finished stamp: a white ball carrying its maker's logo and model name. A finished stamp: a white ball with red printing and a fine scuff near the housing.
Five finished stamps, photographed as they came off the bench. Cracks, gouges, marker, stains and old logos on the balls; visible layer lines on the housings. These are examples, not your stamp: yours will differ from every one of them.

The housing is printed in PLA, built up in layers rather than moulded. Fine layer lines, small differences in surface texture and slight variation in dimensions are inherent to printing: no two prints come out exactly the same, even from the same file on the same machine. The colour and shade of the plastic can also shift between batches and between filament suppliers, so we cannot guarantee an exact shade or let you choose one.

The preview on the site is an illustration of your design. It is not a photograph of the item you will receive, and screen colours do not match physical plastic or a used ball. Any photographs on this site show examples, not your stamp.

None of this is a way of signing away your rights. It is a description of the product, given before you buy so that you know what is coming. Where the ball or the housing falls outside what is described here, that is a lack of conformity and your statutory rights apply in full, exactly as set out below.

The Schone Rivieren pledge

We give 10% of the price of every stamp to Schone Rivieren, who pull plastic out of Dutch rivers before it reaches the sea.

The 10% is of the price actually paid for the stamp, after any discount code, excluding VAT and excluding shipping. VAT is collected for the tax office and is never ours to give away, and shipping is postage handed to a carrier rather than money we earn. At the full price that works out at EUR 2.88 for every stamp sold, whatever it costs to post it. A stamp bought with a discount code gives 10% of its lower price, and a stamp given away free with a 100% code gives nothing. If an order is refunded, in full or in part, the donation shrinks by the same share of what was paid, so a full refund gives nothing.

We pay it once a quarter, by hand. It is a share of what we sell, not of what we have left after costs, so it does not depend on whether we had a good quarter.

Schone Rivieren is an independent organisation. They do not endorse us, and buying a stamp does not make you a donor to them: we make the donation, from money you paid us for a stamp.

How an order is made

You build your design on the site and can change it as often as you like. Nothing is ordered and nothing is charged until you press the order button, and that button says what it costs and that pressing it means paying.

Before you press it you can go back and change any part of the design, and the payment page shows the total again before you confirm. If you spot a mistake after paying but before we start cutting, write to us and we will fix it or cancel the order.

The contract is made when we email you to confirm the order. That email sets out what you bought and what you paid, and it is yours to keep. These terms are available in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish. The translations are produced automatically, and if a translation differs from the English text, the English text applies (see the Language section below).

Your design

You keep ownership of the text, images and other content you send us. We do not acquire it, and we do not use it for anything except your order.

By ordering, you give us permission to reproduce, process and modify that content as far as we need to in order to make, deliver and support your stamp. Making a die involves converting your design and adjusting it to cut cleanly at stamp size, so this permission has to cover that work.

You confirm that you hold the rights needed for us to use what you send us. Please do not send content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy or other rights, or that is unlawful.

We may decline to make a design where we reasonably believe that making it would be unlawful, would infringe someone else's rights, or cannot be cut properly. If we decline before cutting, we cancel the order and refund everything you paid. If we only discover the problem after accepting the order, the same applies.

Price and payment

All prices shown include VAT, currently Dutch VAT at 21%. The price of the stamp and the shipping cost are both shown before you order, and the total is shown again on the payment page before you pay. The price you see is the price you pay: nothing is added at checkout.

Payment is by iDEAL, card or Bancontact, handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

You receive an order confirmation by email. An invoice is available from the link in that email.

Delivery

We ship within the European Union. Delivery is normally 1 to 3 business days within the Netherlands and 3 to 7 business days elsewhere in the EU, after the stamp is made.

Because each stamp is made by hand to order, production normally takes 2 to 5 business days before we post it. We email you when your order ships.

Whatever happens, we deliver within 30 days of your order at the latest or, if the site announced a closure when you ordered, within 30 days of the end of that closure. If we have not, you can ask us to deliver within a reasonable further period, and if we miss that too you can cancel the order and get all your money back.

If your country is not on the shipping list, you can leave your address on the site and we will tell you if that changes.

Cancelling your order (no right of withdrawal)

Buying online normally comes with a 14 day right of withdrawal, sometimes called the cooling-off period. That right does not apply to a DimpleMark stamp.

Every stamp is cut from a design you compose yourself, so it is made to your own specifications and personalised to you. Dutch law excludes goods like this from the right of withdrawal, in Article 6:230p of the Civil Code, which implements Article 16(c) of the Consumer Rights Directive. This is a rule of law rather than a choice you make: we tell you before you order, and we ask you to confirm you have read it, so that nothing about it is a surprise afterwards.

You can still cancel free of charge at any time before we start cutting your stamp. Write to hello@dimplemark.com with your order reference and we will stop the order and refund you in full. Once cutting has started you no longer have a right to cancel simply because you have changed your mind, because the stamp exists only for you and cannot be sold to anyone else.

That is about changing your mind, and it is the only thing it is about. If the stamp does not match what we agreed, your statutory rights are untouched and the next section says what they are.

If something is wrong

Your stamp has to match what we agreed: the design you approved, and what anyone would reasonably expect a stamp of this kind to be and to do. If it does not, that is a lack of conformity and the law gives you a remedy for it.

First we repair or replace it, free, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, and you choose between the two unless the one you pick would cost us disproportionately more than the other. If that cannot be done, or we fail to do it, or the same fault comes back, then you can ask for a reduction in the price or cancel the order and get your money back. For a fault serious enough, you can go straight to cancelling.

Write to hello@dimplemark.com with your order reference, and tell us what is wrong. A photograph helps if the stamp arrived damaged or does not match your design. We answer every message ourselves.

Until your stamp reaches you it travels at our risk. If it is lost or damaged on the way, that is our problem to fix, not yours.

Where a stamp is faulty or is not what you designed, we pay the cost of sending it back to us. Please send us a photograph before posting anything: most things can be settled from a picture, and it saves you a trip to the post office.

The one thing that is not a fault is the variation described above. A ball that carries the marks of having been played and lost, or a housing whose shade differs a little from another, is the product as described rather than a defect in it. That is a statement about what you ordered, not a limit on your rights: if something falls outside what that section describes, everything above applies normally.

We are not affiliated with a dispute resolution body and we are not obliged to use one. If we cannot put something right between us, you can take the matter to the Dutch courts, and the consumer law of your own country of residence still protects you.

Dutch law applies to these terms. That does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
